Why Rest is Essential for Health

Why Rest is Essential for Health

There is an inherent rhythm in our lives that allows us to connect with the patterns of nature and feel our best.

There are times for busy work and joyful play.

It’s absolutely important for us to feel our best that we have balance of both activity and rest, and in today’s modern world the need for rest is more important than ever.

Resting is essential for optimal wellness, performance, and recovery.

Every night, we need to stop to lie down, sleep, and rejuvenate our energy for the following day.

Even during the days, we cannot just work all the time, we have to take periodic times to relax, unwind, and in our modern high-tech era - to unplug.

Athletes schedule rest days into their workout plans so they can feel their best.

When we rest, our body is given time to recuperate from the stress of our lives, and healing happens on a cellular level.

In addition to the physical benefits for healing, rest helps to reduce stress on all systems of the body, supporting mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being as well.

Rest helps to balance hormones, support the immune system, and reduce inflammation in the body.

Taking time off from work to relax and unwind can also calm the mind, enhance creativity, and bring peace into our lives.

Our environment also affects our ability to rest.

In today’s increasingly urban and high-tech world, we are constantly being bombarded by media, information, lights, sounds, EMF’s, wifi, and energy waves in our lives making rest every more important on multiple levels.

There are many ways to embrace more restfulness in our lives.

Here are a few of my favorite…
